Ever since we saw at E3, we were dying to learn more about it. So when Gabor Feher, Managing Director at developer stopped by our offices the other day, I jumped on his back and rode him around like a little pony until he promised me that he'd show me the latest build of the game. Well, my tactic worked. After security had me removed from Gabor's back, we both sat down and he showed me a bit more of the sequel to one of the most detailed space conquest titles ever.Imperium Galactica was one of the games that nearly made me fail my first morning class in my third year of college. It was the only time I had to sleep after Imperium Galactica was released. The game was extremely in-depth, combining elements such as space combat, planetary exploration, and colony management found in several different genres and PC classics like Master of Orion, Starflight, Command & Conquer, and SimCity.
Sure, it wasn't for the casual gamer, but this is the stuff serious strategy fans drooled over.Imperium Galactica II looks to be every bit as detailed when it comes to gameplay, and sports a totally revamped 3D graphics engine. Gabor started off the demonstration with a very impressive display of the game engine.
He zoomed out so you could see the entire universe, a huge mass of stars, nebulae, and planets. He then proceeded to zoom in the game map, revealing more planetary details. After a few seconds, Gabor turned the camera to one planet where a full-scale space battle was going down as we examined the universe. Although the ships looked like tiny specs from our distance, you could tell that they were exchanging laser fire. Then he zoomed in further on the scene, getting close enough to the massive capital ships that I could make out the individual windows on the different decks.
And all of this happened with only negligible loss in framerate - a very impressive display of the game engine. As you would expect since this is a sequel, gameplay is similar to the original, only incredibly enhanced. You still conquer worlds, erect colonies, trade, collect taxes, and build vast armies to carry out your plans of universal domination, but everything looks and feel more refined than the original. The entire interface is presented in full 3D, even the options menus where you design and equip your ships. The gameworld is huge, sporting over 80 planetary types and an almost limitless galaxy range. You will need a D3D compatible accelerator card, but what self-respecting PC gamer doesn't have a 3D accelerator in this day and age?Overall, there will be 8 different races in Imperium Galactica II, each with distinct ship designs and technologies. And you'll be able to play three of these in Imperium Galactica II, each with different strengths, weaknesses, and goals:.
Solarian Empire: comprised of humans from various parts of the galaxy, the Solarian Empire is the most balanced of the three. They're not great fighters and traders, but they're not that bad, either. Think of the Solarian Empire as the porridge Goldilocks ate. Only they aren't made of mush and there's no way the whole Empire would fit down some little bear-harassing girl's mouth. They have the most varied mission types, running the gambit from spying to defending cargo ships to toe-to-toe brawls with the other races. Their ultimate goal is to collect four powerful cosmic crystals and stop an invasion by the Kra'hen.
You must have been playing various sniper shooting 3d games, shooter bullet shooting games, sniper mission games, commando shooting games, FPS shooting master games and other adventurous commando sniper shooting strike 3d games. But we offer you one of the best sniper shooting game, latest Highway Sniper Shooter - 3D Shooting 2019.
Kra'hen: the warrior race in Imperium Galactica II. The Kra'hen worship a God-Emperor from another galaxy, who they believe gives them superior strength and tactics in battle. Because they are a warrior race, they have no spies, diplomats, or traders. They don't talk much, either, relying more on their battle prowess to get their point across rather than soft words. Your goal as the overseer of the Kra'hen will be to occupy the entire galaxy and crush all opposition that is foolish enough to stand in your way. Shinari: a race of traders, politicians, diplomats, and spies.
Although their military might is weak when compared to the Solarians and Kra'hen, they can manipulate and extract information like no other race in the galaxy. An old Shinarian phrase goes, 'If we can't get information out of you, then there's nothing to know.' Since they aren't the best fighters out there, they often hire mercenaries to defend their empire. If you choose to play the Shinari, amassing money, spying, espionage, and keeping the other major races at each others throats will be your primary goals. Sounds fun, don't it?Combat is a big part of the game and you can shoot it out in the depths of space or take the battle to the planet surface.
You'll fight rival races for control of their territories while defending your fleet from space pirates who are trying to steal your precious cargo. While the ground battles look good enough, the space battles look absolutely amazing, with huge capital ships and tiny fighter craft darting around the larger motherships, lasers flashing the entire time. During the battles you can freeze the action and give orders to your units, or even jump into any of the fighter craft and see the battle from a first-hand view.Although combat is a big part of the game, there are certainly other ways to go about subduing the other races.
One way is to use your diplomats to meet with the other races and gain their trust. You can form alliances in the game, and it's often a good strategy to keep up the pact until it becomes beneficial to break it and take advantage of the situation. Hey, it might not be the most honorable thing to do, but you have an entire galaxy to conquer. And like the original, much of the game will revolve around using your spies (unless you play as the heavy-fisted Kra'hen) to infiltrate enemy installations and undermined their plans. Your spies are rated on four attributes: offense, combat, loyalty, and counter intelligence. Spies are responsible for such actions as stealing and destroying buildings, assassinating rival rulers, stealing technologies, and inciting riots on enemy planets.
And, as the counter intelligence skill suggests, it's your spies who will detect other insurgents in your operation. There are a few different gameplay modes in Imperium Galactica II, normal mode and a campaign mode. The only thing that really sets them apart is that the campaign mode includes a detailed and epic storyline complete with dramatic cutscenes, whereas normal mode is just the game with no running plot.
In both scenarios, the game is completely randomized each time you play to aid in the replayability of the title. Finish one game, and you can just start a new one with different planet placement and political alliances. With all of these robust options, Imperium Galactica II has the potential to weigh you down in constant micro-management, one of the biggest downfalls of games of its type.
To aid in micro-management, you can delegate each of your planets to focus on one of three areas: military, research, and industrial. This should help you out during those times when it's just not feasible to overlook every step in a planets production.Up to six people will be able to play via the Internet or LAN. Multiplayer modes include co-op campaign play and an interesting variation on capture the flag - capture the flagship, in which there's a constantly moving flag you have to track and secure.Like its predecessor, Imperium Galactica II looks like it's going to be a difficult but rewarding game that has the potential to be one of the runaway hits of this year, at least for hardcore strategy fans. If the development team at Digital Reality accomplishes everything they hope, this could be one of the most detailed, in-depth, far reaching space conquest games ever, and I'm prepared to lose a few nights sleep if the final is as good as I think it will be. But we'll just have to wait a few more months to see how it all turns out. Expect to see Imperium Galactica II sometime this winter.- Tal Blevins.
E3 Update - 05/14/99The recent drought of space strategy empire-building games is coming to an end, with the imminent release of Birth of the Federation (which has gone gold) and Starfleet Command. But for those who don't care for the Star Trek universe, another option is available-Imperium Galactica II, a sequel to a little known GT game from several years ago.Imperium Galactica II boasts a universe of some eighty planets to explore, and should have all the gameplay features you look for in a title of this kind-research trees, planetary production queues, colony management, unit design, stellar exploration, trading, spying and diplomacy. And when it comes time for combat, the game will feature real-time battles in both outer space and planet-side. This portion of the game resembles Homeworld, but the underlying strategy aspect is more akin to Master of Orion. The game's back story involves a genetically engineered race of 'super humans', designed as the ultimate killing machines for a military that's out of control.
But before the super soldiers were completed, a rogue scientist who saw the dangers in such a project, scattered the research data crystals from the project to the distant quarters of the galaxy as a precautionary measure. As a result, the game's plot involves the various imperial factions fighting to get a hold of all of the research on the superhuman army.Players take on the role of one of three different factions-the Humans, the Politicals, and the Brutals. Each of the three different factions follows a slightly different path in their quest for victory: the humans use the traditional methods of spying and building up in order to retrieve the remaining crystals, while the Politicals are more oriented towards black market missions like spying, piracy, and hiring themselves out as mercenaries. Finally the Brutals are focused completely on warfare, first the defense of their home planet and the eventual conquest of the remaining factions.Other key features of the game include a fleet design system, letting players equip their spacecraft in the most efficient manner possible, while a random storyline generator should mean that each time you sit down and play the game, the placement of planets and data crystals in the universe will be randomized, guaranteeing replayability. For multiplayer games, up to six players will be able to play across the Internet. The game is being developed by a Hungarian outfit called Digital Reality, the same group that put together the first Imperium Galactica game. Imperium Galactica II will be released in December. That all sounds a little cut and dry but sitting down and playing the game and talking to the designer, I got a much better feel for the title.
Magicmaker wiki. Additionally, if Mario crouches on a white block in this game's style for five seconds, he will do a short little hop and make a grunting noise, as a nod to the method of obtaining the in World 1-3.
It's a very good update to the original game, clearly in the Master of Orion mold, though it's real-time and in 3D-up to a point. When combat takes place, the interface zooms into the planetary screen (for land combat) or a grid for a space battle. The game is 3D, but the Z-axis (up and down) is very limited, so it's not completely free-form. The models for the ships are all nicely rendered, and in many instances, the real-time part of the game does resemble Homeworld, though the underlying strategy of the game is deeper: you have to research advanced technologies for the ship, and then pay for them when you build them in your shipyards, ala Master of Orion. There is no resource-gathering, and the plans for your different ships can be saved as templates. This is definitely one we're going to follow up on with a more in-depth preview in the near future.- Jason Bates.
