How to Unlock Purple Barriers in Darksiders 3Darksiders 3 is finally here, and with it an action adventure title full of extras to unlock and puzzles to solve. You may be wondering how to reach certain areas and clear certain obstacles, specifically those pesky purple barriers. Here’s how to unlock purple barriers. As players make their way through Darksiders 3, they’ll begin to notice doorways and passages blocked by rocky purple barriers.

Like the orange barriers they encountered in the Hollows, these barriers are destroyed with an ability granted by the Force Hollow, but can be opened before then with exploding bugs. However, areas with exploding bugs can be few and far between outside of Darksiders 3’s main path. As such, players are better off waiting until they Force Hollow is unlocked naturally by progressing through the game. The Force Hollow is granted to players by the Lord of Hollows following the Lust boss fight. After a short cutscene, they will gain access to it at anytime by pressing L1 and the X button at the same time. With the Force form active, players can then destroy any purple barriers in Darksiders 3. Barriers that the player can walk directly up to can be destroyed by holding down the Triangle button, which will trigger a charge attack with the form’s Hammer of Scorn weapon.Should players notice a far-off barrier, they can target and destroy it with a force-imbued glaive attack. To do this, activate the force form and then enter aiming mode with R3 or pressing down on the right analog stick.Once this is done, hold down the R2 or RT button to charge up the glaive with force energy.

Aim the targeting reticle at the purple barrier and release R2 to smash it to pieces.Hopefully this clears up how to unlock purple barriers. Darksiders 3 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

For more on all things Darksiders 3, check out the game’s as well as our of the title.

From Vulgrim’s Location, locate the ledge we can jump up to. There will be a ramp leading upwards form this. Before continuing, look immediately to the left to spot another ledge we can jump to. There is a corpse holding a Medium Lurcher Clump here. Return to the ramp and climb, killing any Skeletons that get in your way. At the top of the room, use Fury’s whip to swing across to the far side, using the wooden branch.

As you land, fight off the Skeleton and two Lesser Demons (one will be here, one will be on the branch path linked to this area and will likely pull). After clearing them, loot the item by the glowing mushrooms on the right-hand wall for a Small Healing Shard. Before continuing, locate the small ramp leading downwards. Kill the Skeleton hiding here and loot the corpse nearby for a Large Lurcher Clump.

Return to the main room and take the tree branch path. This will soon split in two – on the right you’ll find a Small Lurcher Clump and a webbed doorway that we can’t access as yet. Follow the main path, Killing the Lesser Demons along the way until it passes over the skyscraper with Vulgrim’s position once again. You’ll see the path leading to another building in the distance.

Before crossing the path, kill the Skeletons and Lesser Demons that come to attack and then drop down onto the ledge surrounding the top of the skyscraper. Follow it around to the right to find another Lesser Demon to kill and a corpse holding a Medium Lurcher Clump.

Cross the root path to the next building and work your way around it. There are two Lesser Demons and a Ranged Lesser Demon here. There is a passage leading down to a Small Lurcher Cluster and another Lesser Demon on the opposite side of the room from where you climbed up. There is also a Large Lurcher Clump and a Blue Soul Lurcher on the roof.

Note: The Blue Soul Lurchers serve a number of purposes. If you die, you will lose all of the Souls you had in your possession, but a Blue Soul Lurcher will appear where you were killed. Destroying this will allow you to recover your lost Souls. You can also find them in the world. Annoyingly they will automatically steal any blue souls you get from killing enemies near them, so you’ll need to hunt them down to get those souls back (with a few extra).

To continue, locate the corrugated iron ramp at the far side of the rooftop from where we came and use the overhead branch to swing to the other side of the gap.

The room 4. Climb the stairs here to the top and activate the Vulgrim Plinth for Serpent Hole: Haven – Maker’s Forge. Proceed into the main doorway here for a scene introducing Ulthane. During the scene, he’ll tell you where to find your next target – Wrath and will hand over the Bridge Stone.

Note: The Bridge Stone will allow you to transport any Human Survivors you find straight back to the Maker’s Forge.
Note: Ulthane, much like Vulgrim is pretty useful. He will be able to upgrade your Weapons and Weapon Enhancements using reagents that you bring him – Angelic/Demonic Artifacts and Adamantine mostly. We won’t have anything to give him as yet, but its wise to revisit Ulthane often to upgrade Fury’s gear.

At this point, we’ll need to keep moving onward to Haven - Crossroads in order to find the entrance to the Nether and the next of the Seven Deadly Sins – Wrath.
